Ellen's journey began with yoga where she was introduced to focusing on breath, alignment and its connection to healing the body.
After a difficult work experience, Ellen was searching for what she calls “movement therapy”. Her inner voice was telling her to find somewhere she could laugh, dance and move without the overbearing structure of a pounding exercise practice. Ellen needed the freedom to be herself!
In 2014 she followed a newspaper story about Nia to her first Nia class with Demi Yuvanu.
As many Nia lovers say: “I was hooked at first dance.” Dancing nia® beside the Aegean Sea during Demi’s annual Seaside nia® Retreat in Greece in 2015, was an amazing experience that left her wanting more,
Ellen felt the pull to take her practice to a higher level, so she completed her Intensive White Belt training with Kate Finlayson in October 2018. In Ellen's words: "I considered it an honor to graduate on my 57th birthday. The best birthday gift EVER!!"
Her next Nia step is to complete the Blue Belt training in June 2020 with Winalee Zeeb.
In Ellen's words: "I look forward to the journey Nia has in store for me and feel blessed to share the experience at n~motion Studio Tega Cay."
Ellen is mother of three wonderful sons and nia® loving nana to two awesome grands.
